Yeah, while everyone else is arguing over Nice Guyism since the new episode of Motorcity aired I have been stuck on those weird cubes that those random Detroit Deluxe citizens were eating. And now I have headcanons about food.

Also I wrote a ficlet.

I know I said I wouldn't make another art post until I get back from Kansas, but...

This happened.

And then somemore... )

I'm sick of being depressed and feeling sorry for myself about stuff. School is really weighing me down it seems, but goddammit! This colorful mofo believes in himself and I should too! Believe in myself that is, I mean believing in a costumed supervillian who commits crime because he's color blind is just silly. The point is that this semester shall pass, I'll take color theory next semester, move to Kansas City over the summer, transfer to KCAI, and move on with my life.

WHOOOO! This Friday has turned out to be pretty damn awesome. For one thing, something I thought was going on tonight is actually next week so I don't have to leave the house again tonight and for another FREE BUS RIDING DAY! Happy October! My trip is tomorrow!

Now for the rest of my Inspiration List! )

I will have the other half of my inspiration list up later. BUT FIRST!

Every now and then I attempt to make a page of sketches for each story idea I have. I actually managed to do that for once so here we go... )

A good friend of mine made a post about fandoms and posed the question "What show/book/whatever do you think needs a larger fandom?" At the time I had no answer. I'm not even sure I want a larger fandom for this show, but I can't contain my love for it:

Moral Orel.

Yes. Moral Orel. I love this show to pieces, I really do. Why? (Warning: Some links contain disturbing imagery, click at your own risk.)

It's a show that ranges from disturbing,to heartbreaking,to adorable, and finally to darkly funny. Comedy tends to come from a dark place anyway, as a coping mechanism almost. It helps that all the characters are named after stop motion terms (which includes a lampshade on this with in the show when the name "Stopanimationname" was called). Plus it's got The Mountain Goats! The Mountain Goats you guys!

Yes, it falls into the trope of "All Adult Animation is South Park" with how disturbing it can get, but it has seriously beautiful visiuals (that get pretty fucking freaky in the third season) and has moments of brightness amongst it's own cynicism.

To skim over the show you'd get the impression that it's painting Christianity in a bad light, but as you watch the show it sinks in that religion itself isn't bad. It's people having power who really shouldn't that makes life bad.

Adult Swim cancelled the show after a particular episode was made that was really, really disturbing. Not disturbing funny, but disturbing, uh, disturbing. I won't go into details, but I skipped over a huge part of the episode because it made me uncomfortable as hell.

There is very little fanart/fic for this show and that makes me a little sad because I find the show to be really inspiring creatively. I do understand why the fanbase is small and lacking in activity; it's a show that's hard to create fanworks for. Some shows and books are like that. I can't explain it for the life of me (yet), but I have an easier time creating fanworks for other fandoms. Ah well.

At least the show itself gave Orel a happy ending.
