I kind of understand it a little bit. What I don't understand is being so desperate for canon validation as to make up "canon validation" out of nothing, like the shipper who was squeeing over Harry and Hermione standing beside each other in this one scene because "They look like a married couple"-- okay, I guess any two people standing side by side look like a married couple now-- or the ATLA ones who were all "Yay, Zuko and Katara didn't actually hold hands but they looked like they could have held hands!" What I REALLY don't understand and yet also find entertaining to an unseemly degree is being so desperate as to claim "canon validation" based on something that is, to everyone who does not ship that pairing obsessively, the exact opposite of canon validation. The positive Harmonian response to the creepy illusion people is even more bizarre and logic-defying than the creepy illusion people themselves!
